This wall is an iconic monument dedicated to the people of Capel Celyn, who were forced from their homes in an undemocratic fashion by Liverpool council in 1957, so that the area could be flooded and supply water to the English city. Almost every politician in Wales opposed the flooding, and the people of Wales were outraged at the powerlessness of Wales, its people, and even its representatives in Parliament. It is said that no single event in recent Welsh history boosted the membership of Welsh nationalist political groups as much as this, particularly amongst the younger generation. The wall itself is situated near the A487 road, between Aberystwyth and Llanrhystud.
