De gauche à droite, l’on aperçoit, en haut : la maison de la Keure de l’hôtel de ville (haute toiture gris sombre avec cheminée massive) ; la nef et le clocher de la cathédrale Saint-Bavon; le beffroi, surmonté de son dragon ; l’église Saint-Nicolas, avec ses tourelles d’angle ; sur la ligne d’horizon : le clocher à bulbe de l’église Saint-Pierre, et la tour grosso modo parallélipipédique de la bibliothèque universitaire ; la tour effilée, à horloge, de l’ancienne poste centrale néogothique. Au second plan : la Halle aux viandes (Vleeshuis), édifice tout en longueur, à haute toiture grise percée de nombreuses lucarnes. Au premier plan : la place Sint-Veerle, bordée notamment du bâtiment d’entrée de la Criée au poisson (Oude Vismijn) avec sa statue de Neptune. Van links naar rechts, boven: stadhuis (Schepenhuis van de Keure, hoog grijs dak met massieve schoorsteen); Sint-Baafskathedraal; belfort (met draak op spits); Sint-Niklaaskerk (met hoektorentjes); in de verte: toren van de Sint-Pieterskerk, en rechthoekige ' Boekentoren' (d.i. universiteitsbibliotheek); slanke toren met klok van voormalig postgebouw (neogotisch). Midden: Vleeshuis (langwerpig zandstenen gebouw). Vooraan links: Sint-Veerleplein, met in hoek rechts toegangspoort (met Neptunusbeeld bovenop) van Oude Vismijn. |
