SOS Children's Village Plagiari (Thessaloniki), Greece — SOS Children

SOS Children's Village Plagiari (Thessaloniki), Greece

We would like to tell you about the latest news from our Village and about Maria, one of our older children.

In February, the famous Greek football player, Kiriakos Sotiris, visited the SOS Children’s Village and later that month, a big festival took place. The children invited their school friends and dressed up in their favourite clothes. All the children danced and played games that night.Family at SOS CV Plagiari, Greece

The second meeting of the teenagers’ council met in March. The teens discussed serious issues that young people face every day in schools. During this meeting, all the attendees designed posters with messages on children’s rights.

Easter passed with piety and humility. The Day of Resurrection was celebrated and the residents of our small Village had lunch together.

The former Prime Minister of Greece, Mr Karamanlis, and his wife, recently visited the SOS Children’s Village. It was a special honour. They went round two family homes and then talked with all the children about life in the Village.

Maria

Maria has successfully finished her second year of Secondary School. She is an excellent student and is very attentive. Also this year, Maria succeeded in passing her ‘First Certificate of English Language’ exam. This summer, Maria moved into the SOS Youth House, went to a summer resort in Chalkidiki with her SOS family, and then went camping with her friends.
