SOS Children's Village Migdal Haemek (Megadim), near Nazareth
SOS Children's Village Migdal Haemek (Megadim) opened its gates on 30
April 1997 and was officially inaugurated on 8 September 1997 by Israeli
President Mr Weizmann and SOS Children's Village President Mr Kutin. It
is situated near Nazareth and can be reached most conveniently via
Haifa or via Tel-Aviv.
The SOS Children's Village consists of family houses for many children, a multi-purpose hall, the village director's house, a house
for the SOS aunts (family helpers or SOS mother trainees who support the
SOS mothers in their daily work and fill in for them when they are ill
or on leave), and an administration and service area. Within easy reach
of the SOS Children's Village, there is a primary and secondary school, a
kindergarten, a sports centre, a swimming bath and a clinic.
Other SOS Projects in Migdal Haemek
In January 2005, an SOS Social Centre was added to SOS Children's Village Migdal Haemek (Megadim). It mainly provides day care for children from the local community but also runs outreach programmes to help socially weak local families. There are day-care places for children.
