Donating to SOS Children Charity through eBay
Did you know you can donate to SOS Children through eBay? Many people now use this well known online auction site to sell unwanted items. If you are selling on eBay you can choose to donate part or all of the proceeds of the sale to charity. eBay chips in by reducing their fees pro-rata: if you donate 20% then they reduce their fees by 20%. Charity listings often attract more attention and higher bids so you may end up with the same amount of money, but our children will also benefit.
How to donate
-
Click "Sell" at the top of the eBay home page and choose the "Advanced sell" option to get the listing form.
-
Under "Raise money for your favourite charity" click "Select another charity" and find SOS Children.
If "Raise money for your favourite charity" does not appear then click "Add or remove options" at the top of the "Choose how you'd like to sell your item" section, tick the box under "Donate percentage of sale" then click "Save".
-
Select the percentage of your proceeds that you would like to donate.
Your listing will be marked with the special blue and yellow ribbon, representing a charity sale, and will include the SOS Children's logo and description.
After your item sells, your chosen charity will find your donation paid into its bank account, along with Gift Aid (if you've ticked the box) and an eBay fee donation.
The really good news is that, although it will require a little leg-work up front to get you up and running, once you're registered it requires little extra effort. You just tick the charity box when you're listing, choose SOS Children and the percentage to donate. It takes just minutes to start really making a difference.
Please do pass on this information to your friends and family, so that they can also start supporting SOS Children through eBay.
