Supporting the Basse community
The SOS Family Strengthening Programme in Basse supports vulnerable families to stay together. In some cases our charity helps with repairing, extending and equipping the often cramped and dangerous houses people live in, and in others we provide food parcels and medicine.
Our charity also gives small loans and grants to help families set up small businesses to support themselves. SOS Children has given small grants to many of the women who run vegetable stalls in Basse's colourful market, and helped develop their basic business skills. In total, just over 100 families are on the Family Strengthening Programme, meaning that nearly 300 children can continue to live with their families.
