SOS Children's Village Medlánky, near Brno
The SOS Children's Village Medlánky is located at about twenty minutes driving distance from the city centre.
The children's village comprises nine family houses, a village director's house with flats for co-workers, a community building including rooms for SOS aunts (who support the SOS mothers and take care of the children when the mothers are on leave), an activity house for workshops for children, a multipurpose building with rooms for the psychologist and educator and an administration and service area. A playground has also been added. Many children can be taken in and find a new home at SOS Children's Village Medlanky.
The tenth family house in Medlánky is currently been used as an SOS Youth Home for the youngsters from SOS Children's Village Chvalčov, who can stay there during their vocational training or higher education and prepare for an independent life
Background to Brno
Brno is the second-largest city in the Czech Republic about 200km from Prague. It was founded in 1243, although the area had been settled since the 5th century.
