Chavin Partnership with SOS Children
Introduction
Chavin has been a partner of SOS Children since 2011. The company has forged strong links with our work in Peru and is supporting one of our Family Strengthening Programmes near the capital, Lima. In 2012 Chavin launched a range of six ‘Caring Bracelets’, each inspired by and named after a Peruvian mother who is part of the programme.
Project information
SOS Children started work in Peru in 1975. Today there are eleven SOS Children's Villages which provide a loving home to over 1000 orphaned and abandoned children and young people. We also run 16 Family Strengthening Programmes that reach into disadvantaged communities to strengthen families and prevent child abandonment. We provide extra care for children plus training and support for carers, reaching 14,000 of Peru’s most vulnerable children.
Chavin contributes to the development of SOS Children’s community centre ‘Luz y Vida’ which teaches vocational and enterprise skills to single mothers. In particular Chavin supports our jewellery making course, which enables mothers to create costume jewellery out of plastic pearls and metal filaments. They sell the jewellery they produce to generate income for their families and the children they care for.
This partnership shows how companies working with SOS Children give back to the communities that inspire and make their work possible. You can hear more about our relationship with Chavin Jewellery in this short film.
