Other SOS Projects in Mai Dich
There is an SOS Nursery, where up to 97 children can be taught in three group rooms. The SOS School, which offers primary and secondary education and has a capacity of up to 700 students, was opened in September 1994. It has 24 classrooms, laboratories, a library and a canteen. Both nursery and school are attended by children from the SOS Children's Village and from the local community.
Older youths from the SOS Children's Village usually move out of the village and into the SOS Youth Home when they start a vocational training course or go on to higher education. With the support of qualified youth workers, the young people develop realistic perspectives for their future, learn to shoulder responsibility and increasingly make their own decisions. They are encouraged to develop team spirit and build up contacts with relatives and friends, as well as with the relevant authorities and potential employers.
At Mai Dich, there is also an SOS Vocational Training Centre for co-workers and SOS mothers.
