SOS Children's Village Nha Trang
The first children moved into SOS Children's Village Nha Trang in September 1999. Torrential rains in November of that year delayed the termination of construction a little. However, on 28 December 1999, the official inauguration finally took place.
The SOS Children's Village is located in the centre of Nha Trang City, the provincial capital of Khanh Hoa province in the south of the country. Nha Trang is a coastal town visited by many tourists. The main source of income for the population of the province is agriculture, with tourism becoming more and more important.
SOS Children's Village Nha Trang consists of 14 family homes, staff accommodation and the necessary administration and service area.
Other SOS Projects in Nha Trang
There is an SOS Nursery, where up to 180 children can be taught in six group rooms. The SOS School (primary and secondary school) with its 24 classrooms, laboratories, library and canteen, has a capacity of 1,000 students. Both nursery and school are attended by children from the SOS Children's Village and from the local community.
Older youths from the SOS Children's Village usually move into the SOS Youth Home when they start a vocational training course or go on to higher education. With the support of qualified youth workers, the young people develop realistic perspectives for their future, learn to shoulder responsibility and increasingly make their own decisions.
